What Happens During a Dog Sledding Session?
First, weâll meet you at the Chalet du Loup parking lot (about 15 minutes before your scheduled time!), located between FĂ©claz and Revard (roughly 1 hour from Annecy and 30 minutes from ChambĂ©ry and Aix-les-Bains). Youâll find yourself in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by pine trees and snowdrifts⊠youâre in the right place! Youâll meet your musher and the dogs who will take care of giving you an amazing adventure.
If youâve chosen the âfirst rideâ option, youâll enjoy an exceptional ride, seated in the sled, with the musher behind you guiding the team. All you have to do is admire the scenery!
If you opted for sled driving lessons, youâll first attend a 15â20 minute briefing to learn about safety rules, how the activity works, and also about the musherâs profession. Once youâre familiar with the basics, youâll set off standing on the sled, with a small team of dogs that the musher adjusts according to your skill level (number of dogs, dog personalities, etc.).
This is a more sporty activity, requiring both physical effort (pushing on climbs, lifting the sled in case of a fall, etc.) and mental engagement (encouraging the dogs, staying persistent, etc.).
Youâll return to the starting point with memories in your head and a smile on your face, guaranteed! đ Take a moment to thank the dogs and give them a few affectionate patsâtheyâll love it. And donât forget to take lots of photos!
