It is essential to respect safety rules in via ferrata! During this activity, you are moving through a natural mountain environment, which is not without risks if you don’t follow some basic guidelines.Via Ferrata sécurité

Main Risks

  • Falling: A fall in via ferrata is possible. It isn’t serious if you are properly equipped. The shock absorber is essential—it reduces the impact on the body, limiting the danger.

  • Rockfall: Animals in the natural environment or fellow participants can cause rocks to fall. This highlights the importance of wearing a helmet!

  • Rain: Like any outdoor activity, via ferrata depends on the weather. Rain is definitely not your friend—it increases the risk of slipping. The activity should be avoided in such conditions.

  • Altitude-related risks: Expect temperature differences between the starting point and the route itself. Moreover, at higher elevations, atmospheric pressure makes the effort more demanding.

  • The participant themselves…: Ever been told that you are your own worst enemy? In via ferrata, watch out for yourself! The apparent ease, accessibility, and fun nature of the activity can in fact be dangerous, as it makes people forget the risks associated with it. Be responsible and aware. Also, make sure you are in good shape before starting—the fatigue factor has no place in via ferrata, as it fosters inattention and dangerous behavior.
