To fully enjoy the via ferrata experience, whether with friends or family, here are a few tips!
Via ferrata is accessible to everyone from age 12. However, since some sections are exposed over heights, we recommend that people with a strong fear of heights choose another activity (Discover Annecy Aventure activities).
1. Choose appropriate equipment. Via ferrata is a sporting activity, so dress accordingly: comfortable sportswear, non-slip sneakers or mountain shoes, and a light jacket, as temperatures can vary with altitude. You may also want cycling-type gloves for extra comfort. Being a physical activity, you’ll appreciate a small snack and a water bottle in your backpack… and why not enjoy it with a view of Lake Annecy?
2. Respect nature. Via ferrata takes place in natural surroundings, where you will encounter beautiful landscapes. It is essential to preserve these areas: pick up your trash, both to protect wildlife and for the enjoyment of future participants in a clean, natural environment.
3. Timing and season. Via ferrata is typically practicable from April to October. We recommend booking your activity preferably in the morning. Although it means sacrificing a bit of sleep, the calm and morning views are worth it!
4. Be in good shape. You will need your full energy during the route. The guide’s enthusiasm and the scenery will motivate you, but your own preparation is key: get a good night’s sleep before your adventure!
Finally, enjoy this original and refreshing outdoor experience in nature!
