This sport is governed by the International Rafting Federation (IRF), which organizes the European Championships and World Championships every year.
In France, the FFCK (French Canoe-Kayak Federation) also organizes a national circuit.
Rafting can be done on different inflatable boats (1, 4, or 6 people), using single paddles, or double paddles if alone.
In competitions, there are:
RX: Head-to-head racing (1 vs 1) with slalom gates that must not be touched.
Slalom: On a course up to 600 meters long with 8 to 14 gates.
Downriver: Time-trial racing on courses of 3 to 7 km.
