Mountain biking with less effort? It’s possible today!
Exploring the mountains may seem reserved for athletic individuals, but electric mountain bikes (e-MTBs) now allow everyone to enjoy these landscapes without requiring special physical conditions.
Advantages of e-MTB : Electric mountain bikes allow riders to go further and explore more challenging trails that might be too difficult on a standard MTB. The electric assistance can be adjusted depending on the rider’s profile and needs during the ride.
The real benefit: everyone can keep up! No one gets left behind, making it possible to ride with people of different skill levels.
Who is it for? : e-MTB is perfect for anyone who wants to discover mountain environments without too much effort. It is ideal for less athletic individuals or nature lovers who might be intimidated by steep climbs or long trails.
It is also suitable for experienced cyclists, as the electric assistance can increase pedaling power, allowing faster speeds, more thrills, and longer rides than a traditional MTB.
How it works : An electric mountain bike is essentially a classic MTB with an electric motor, located either at one of the wheels or the crankset. The motor is battery-powered, and the battery must be recharged after each ride. A fully charged battery typically offers around 40 km of autonomy, though this depends on rider weight, terrain, and the level of assistance used.
Activating the motor is simple: just pedal! With an e-MTB, you can reach speeds of up to 25 km/h.
Cost : A good electric mountain bike costs on average €1,700, though options under €800 exist. Quality is essential for safety, so choose carefully.
At Annecy Aventure, our e-MTB routes are priced the same as classic MTB rides, so there’s no excuse not to enjoy cycling and nature!
“Does it make too much noise?” → No! Electric assistance is perfectly silent.
“Is it complicated to use?” → Not at all! Pedal like a regular bike and adjust the assistance level as needed.
“Do I need a license?” → No, just like a regular bike. However, for SpeedBikes (which can exceed 25 km/h), a license and registration are required.
