Experiencing a canyoning descent is much more than just an adrenaline activity… To fully enjoy the experience, here are a few tips!
Canyoning is an outdoor nature activity; beyond the thrilling sensations, it’s the natural environment that will truly amaze you. It is therefore essential to help preserve it. This can be done by following the rules shared with you before the descent, which generally include being discreet both visually and audibly, collecting your waste, and avoiding gravel pits and sandy riverbeds. It is also recommended to avoid sunscreen, as it contains particles harmful to the natural environment. Finally, carpooling to the site is a simple and effective way to help protect the environment—our primary resource in tourism!
At Annecy Aventure, canyoning descents are open to everyone aged 10 and above (depending on the route). Beyond the minimum age, the minimum weight should be considered. There is no wetsuit suitable for children weighing less than 20 kg. Moreover, a child of this size would struggle with the water and air temperatures, preventing them from fully enjoying the activity. Other adapted activities, such as aquatic hiking, are available for them while they wait to experience canyoning in the future.
One final tip for comfort and safety regarding footwear: wear water-friendly shoes with good grip, preferably with laces to reduce the risk of losing a shoe along the way.
