Sled dogs don’t just pull sleds—they can offer many other thrilling experiences. Here’s a selection of outdoor activities you can enjoy with these amazing dogs:

  • Nordic Kart / Canikart

The cani-kart is a summer alternative to dog sledding. While it doesn’t provide sliding sensations, the thrills are just as intense! Sitting in a small, non-motorized off-road cart pulled by a dog team, you’ll enjoy a ride through mountain landscapes. This activity is only possible when temperatures do not exceed 15°C to ensure the dogs’ well-being. Nordic karting is not only recreational for tourists—it also allows mushers to train and stay in practice during the summer.

Cani-rando/cross chien de traineau

  • Cani-Hike / Cani-Rando
This activity combines mountain exploration, hiking, and canine contact. You are connected to your dog via a traction harness. But be warned: it’s a sporty activity! The dog will pull and help you move forward, sometimes with more energy than expected. These dogs are very strong and enthusiastic, so you need to assert yourself to stay in control.
Each dog is matched to the participant’s profile, creating a true partnership. Whether you’re looking for a sporty or relaxing hike, the dog is chosen accordingly. The main goal is to share a bonding experience with a sled dog.
In winter, you can try the snowshoe cani-hike instead!

  • Cani-Cross
Cani-cross is the next level up from cani-hiking: it’s running with a dog. The runner is attached to the dog with a gangline. The dog always runs in front. Proper equipment is essential: a suitable harness (never a collar, which could injure the dog).
Originally, mushers used this sport to train in the summer. Today, it’s practiced both recreationally and competitively, with races typically ranging from 4 to 9 km. Cani-cross is a great way to exercise your dog and strengthen your bond.

  • Cani-Mountain Biking / Cani-ScooterCani-VTT/trottinette chien de traineau

Cani-MTB (Mountain Biking): This sport combines mountain biking with dog power. It’s perfect for VTT and dog enthusiasts! It also allows mushers to continue training in summer, and there are even cani-MTB competitions.

Cani-Scooter: Using an off-road scooter, this activity lets you explore the mountains while enjoying strong sensations. The scooter is pulled by a dog, and your task is to maintain balance throughout the ride. This is a growing cani-sport and a way for mushers to train when there’s no snow.

In short, dog activities can be adapted into “cani-anything-you-want”, turning them into fun and challenging sports! If these alternative sports don’t appeal to you, you can always visit the kennel—a great way to see the behind-the-scenes of sled dog life.

  • Ski-JoëringSki joering Annecy Savoie
If you love sliding sensations combined with animal contact, try ski-joëring! With skis on your feet, you’ll enjoy a ride and some speed exercises—pulled by a horse. No prior equestrian skills are required; you just need to know basic skiing techniques (turning and stopping).
Our instructors will pair you with a horse like Coquin, Poldra, Balisto, Voltige, or Fleur, creating an incredible duo. We offer both initiation sessions and half-day courses for a complete experience.
If skiing isn’t your thing, you can simply enjoy a ride in one of our traditional horse-drawn sleds, taking in breathtaking landscapes—fun for both kids and adults!
